Safe and Effective
HBOT has exceptional safety ratings and the form of mild-HBOT we use at GrassRoots carries even fewer risks, for maximum peace of mind.
Our Mild HBOT chamber delivers pressure at 1.3 ATA. This elevates tissue oxygenation by more than 50% to provide significant medical benefits without the potential hazards of hospital-grade hyperbaric chambers that pressurize to 3.0 ATA and use 100% oxygen.
What conditions can HBOT help treat?
This healing tool has been shown to benefit a vast array of health conditions, including but not limited to:
- Autoimmune disease
- Lyme & co-infections
- Mold & mycotoxin illness
- Dementia, Alzheimer’s, and cognitive decline
- Parkinson’s and other neurological disorders
- Chronic pain and fatigue, Fibromyalgia
- Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
- Spinal cord injuries
- Chronic infections
Is there research to support the benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy?
Yes! There are over 35,000 studies showing the effectiveness and safety of HBOT, with more emerging all the time. Here is just a small sample of the exciting research on this healing modality:
- A 2018 study showed an 800% increase in stem cell mobilization (view study)
- A series of case reports demonstrated a decrease in rheumatoid arthritis pain (view study)
- A 2013 study found a decrease in chronic fatigue symptoms (view study)
- Very exciting research revealed the creation of new brain cells in stroke victims (view study)
- A case report documented an instance of Chronic Lyme Disease successfully treated with HBOT (view study)
- Researchers found improvements in attention span and reaction time for patients with toxic mold illness (view study)
What should I expect during an HBOT session?
Our hyperbaric oxygen chamber is 32 inches in diameter, so it is cozy without feeling cramped. There is even enough space to accommodate a child and their parent.
You may wear your clothes and bring in a book, your phone, or an iPad. May patients enjoy wearing something comfy and using the time to meditate, journal, read, or watch a favorite TV show.
As the chamber pressurizes and depressurizes, you’ll likely experience pressure in your ears, similar to taking off and landing in a plane. You may find it helpful to chew gum or yawn to relieve the pressure and allow your ears to pop.
How many sessions will I need?
As with changing your diet or working out, you don’t use hyperbaric oxygen therapy once and see a transformation. It takes time, but with consistency, you’ll make progress until you achieve a breakthrough.
Generally speaking, patients see changes in tissue and immune function after 20-30 sessions, and we see changes in brain vasculature after 30 hours of treatment.
If you are a member of our Adaptation Program, we’ll determine an HBOT protocol in your next appointment based on your needs and current treatment plan.
If you are not a patient, you will meet with a provider first (Dr. Osgood or Liz Mitchell, our nurse practitioner) to discuss your health challenges, history, and current treatments. Together, we will determine an HBOT protocol that will best achieve your goals. This one-time consultation is $199.
