If you’re struggling with inflammation or you’ve been diagnosed with an autoimmune condition, or maybe you have digestive imbalances that you just can’t figure out, this is a podcast you really want to listen to because this dietary approach really can be a game-changer when it comes to optimizing your health.

In this episode, Seth is joined by Lili Hanft, Grassroots Functional Medicine Nutritionist and Lifestyle Coach, as they discuss the Autoimmune Paleo (AIP) Diet theory and the science behind why it can help improve symptoms. Stay tuned for Episode 16 – How to Implement the Autoimmune Paleo Diet: Tips, Resources, and Practical Strategies, which will discuss the practical applications of the diet.

In this episode, Seth and Lili discuss:

  • ❓ What is Autoimmune Paleo Diet (AIP)
  • ✅ The benefits of the AIP protocol
  • 🎇 How elimination diets can account for multiple immune reactions unlike food sensitivity testing
  • ☝ What is an Autoimmune response
  • How the AIP diet is showing up in clinical trials for autoimmune diseases
  • 💥 What foods are eliminated during the AIP diet
  • 🍲 Why refined seed oils, grains, beans, dairy, eggs, alcohol and caffeine, legumes, nuts seeds, nightshades and refined sugar are removed from the diet and what replacements you can use.
  • 👀 What is oxidative stress is and how it affects the body
  • 👍 Learn what leaky gut is and how the foods you choose to eat can inhibit digestion
  • ❓ What kind of foods give you the biggest nutritional benefits

Lili’s health tip: Focus on adding in nutrient-dense foods, not just removing inflammatory ones.

Even though you’re eliminating a lot of foods on AIP, there are a lot of foods you can add in that you probably weren’t eating before. So in some ways, it’s expanding your diet. If you experiment with fermented foods or the more unusual fours or different cuts of meat, it can expand your diet.
